Lord Bafford's Manor

Back Way Into Throne Room - by Jeff@whitherjay.demon.co.uk

. . . in Bafford's mansion if you slash the tapestries in the high centre section above the garden, one of them (I can't remember which) you will find a passage which takes you to the room next to the throne room with the gongs. The passage opens out onto the beams in the ceiling, from which you can water arrow all the torches and drop down in stages to the floor to blackjack the guard and get his key
and the sceptre.

Break From Cragscleft Prison

Secret Room in Officers Quarters - by Jeff@whitherjay.demon.co.uk

. . . whilst doing "Cragscleft Prison" I found a secret room in the Officers Quarters room without the scroll. If you slash the tapestry with your sword (I now slash every tapestry as a matter of course) there is a small room with three bottle of wine in it. I finished this level 30 short of the maximum.

Corpse in Flooded Cell - by Menashe Aaron menashea@actcom.co.il

. . . I found a shortcut you might whant to add to your walkthrough: Mission 2: BREAK FROM CRAGSCLEFT PRISON Into the Prison: step 3.  You mention the stuff to be found on the corpse in the flooded cell..  One thing you didn't mention is a key on the corpse itself.  This key is the key to the vault in The Officer's Quarters.  If you have this key you can skip The Officer's Quarters: step 2.

Down In the Bonehoard

Sarcophagus in Hammer Font Room - by Jeff@whitherjay.demon.co.uk

. . . In the Boneyard I discovered that if you collect all the "Golden Bones" (skull, two arms and two legs) and drop them in the sarcophagus in the centre of the room with the Hammer font, you get 8 water arrows, 4 fire arrows and a bottle of Holy Water for your efforts. The skull and one arm are on the side of the sarcophagus. The other leg is you can find floating in one of the pools you have access to down the spiral steps and through the crack in the floor. The other arm is near top of the spiral steps.

Assassins

An Alternate Way Over Ramierz's Wall - by Scott Myers rjomero@xmission.com

. . . Anyway, I've found a better way to do something in "Thief" than your walkthrough currently explains. It is on the "Assassins" level. I am currently playing the game again on "Expert" and I was thinking to myself that there has to be a better way to get into Ramirez's place without having to hug the wall with the gravel floor.

Your walkthrough explains that as soon as you enter the place, hug the right wall, stay real quiet, and try to stay out of the gaurd's sight who is up high on a wall. Well, this is how I did it the first time, but it was very difficult and it also didn't seem extremely realistic.

I have found an even better way to get in. What you do is run back into town the way you came in. If you head in a straight direction, you come upon some boxes. Grab the first box and head back towards the mansion. Place it down a few feet out of the front right wall. Go grab the other and place it on top of it. Jump on top of the boxes. I wanted to see if I could get onto this wall, and after a few tries I found I could jump-mantle up just fine. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to be here or not (I have a way of finding my way into places programmers didn't intend for me to be), but if you turn right and hop down, you'll see (lo and behold) a ladder! Climb the ladder, turn left, jump and mantle the wall, and you are now on top of Ramirez's outer wall. You can hop down, turn right, go through the door, go up the stairs, blah blah, and you're in.

Though this way in is a little difficult if you're not used to jump-mantling, but I found it easier than the way you currently tell how to do it. Personally, I like this way in better. Seems more thief-like.

Maw of Chaos

More on the stone ramp - by Chris Csernica csernica@ihwy.com

If you stay to the right-hand side of the stone ramp and the initial steep part of the "ski slope" there is a narrow outcropping of rock that you can stop yourself on, right where the ice levels out somewhat. This leads to the stone bridges arching over the ice. There is a water arrow (IIRC) at the end of the left fork of the bridge, and a some health fruits underneath the plants at the end of the right fork.

You get two advantages doing this: the extra goodies (for me, the fruits were invaluable), and you can start yourself off more slowly for the remainder of the slalom.
