- Alexandria -

1. Leave the station and go to the square with the fountain. You can pick off a bad guy as the runs across the square and turn and take care of the two scorpions that followed from the station.

2. Enter the building, with the arches, east of the square. Go upstairs and watch an animation.

3. Pick up the laser sight, shotgun and crossbow ammo from a table near the exit to the stairs.

4. Go out to the balcony, turn left and run/jump to the next roof. Kill the sniper there around the corner to the right and immediately watch your rear for another.

5. Go south to a blue and white sign on the wall, turn right (west) and run/jump/grab the edge of the tile roof opposite. Shimmy right and around the corner. When you're over a lever, drop and grab it to open a secret door inside the building.

6. Go inside the building and be ready for a henchman who attacks from the left just inside the door. Cross the room and get Secret #44, two types of crossbow ammo and a large medkit.

7. Return to Jean-Pierre again and view another animation.

8. Leave Jean-Pierre's, turn right then go around the corner to the right. You'll see a motorcycle locked in a cage and you can get some shotgun shells from the sidewalk.

9. Go back to the fountain and head south. Go into the alley left of the building with the secret room. Turn left at the end of the alley and be prepared for an attack.

10. Follow the path to the Coastal Ruins.

 

- Coastal Ruins -

1. Follow the path to a street with two palm trees. Enter the doorway behind the second tree and stop at the entrance to the "Egyptian Adventure" arcade. Shoot the wooden barrier across the door to get in.

2. Walk down some stairs and on the right you'll see a pyramid on a low blue platform. Turn left and go up the stairs to another boarded doorway.

3. Shoot your way through the boards and stop on the stairs. The opposite wall of this room is a "mirror" that reflects the hidden traps in the room.

4. Walk down to the bottom part of the stairs. Face the center of the room and look in the mirror. Notice there's a stretch of floor leading from the stairs all the way to the mirror that's clear of traps, except for the very first tile next to the stairs.

5. Line up with this section of floor and run/jump toward the mirror. You should land in a safe spot. Walk to the mirror and turn left and stand/jump over the pit toward the reflection of the crossbow. Walk over and pick up the bow.

6. Jump back across the pit, turn right and walk toward the stairs. Stop before you trigger the pit trap next to the stairs and jump to the stairway.

7. Past the pyramid in the other room, and to the right, is a ramp going down. When you slide to the bottom of the ramp a platform swings up to hold you. It won't stay up long. Across the room are nine targets. You must shoot all nine before the ramp drops you on some stakes.

8. You can fool around with the laser sight and the revolver but it's hard to line up the shots because you don't seem to have very fine movement control. The best way is to use the grenade launcher with super grenades. You did get Secret #42 back on the train, didn't you? Just jump straight up and shoot off a grenade at the top of the jump. You might get all nine targets with one round but normally you can do it with two jumps.

9. Once you've taken care of the targets the platform will drop you to the floor.

10. Walk toward the bust of Anubis at the end of the room. As you approach, a token falls from a slot. Scoop it up and head left to a crawlspace high on the south wall. Crawl through and go up the ramp back to the pyramid.

11. Continue past the pyramid, up the stairs and go left. Enter the room next to the mirror room where you got the crossbow and use the token in the snake charmer machine.

12. Climb the snake charmer's rope and backflip to the ledge above. Get the broken broom handle from the floor in the corner.

13. Walk into the alcove and use the crowbar to get the hook from the east wall. Combine the hook and the broken handle to make the hook and pole.

14. Jump through the hole. Leave the snake charmer room and turn right. Find the stairs and follow them up to a room. In the far right corner is a rectangular blue box leaning against the wall under a grate. If you stand in front of the box and look through the bars you can see a set of keys on a hook. Use the hook and pole to get them. Pick them up from the floor after Lara throws them there.

15. Leave the arcade and go back to the street entrance where the palm tree is. Turn right at the tree (east) and follow the street a short distance until it dead-ends into some arches.

16. Go through the right arch and continue to a flooded room. Run/jump across the water to the ledge. Turn right and make an angled stand/jump and grab the edge of the crawlspace in the south wall. Climb up and go through.

17. Drop to the floor and turn right (as you're facing the crawlspace). Climb the ladder on the wall near the corner. Go forward down some stairs and turn right. Walk outside and hop of the ledge to the ground.

18. Go left up a hill toward the castle and an animation plays. Lara should be standing in front of a small mound. We need to go to the castle behind the hill to the right.

19. Go right around the left side of the mound. You will find a spot where you can stand/jump to the top. Once up there you'll see a bare stone path leading around to the right toward the castle.

20. Follow the path into the castle. An animation plays showing two skeletons jumping across platforms to get to you. Skeletons can only be killed by shooting them in the head (use laser sight + something) or by blowing them up with the grenade gun. Take your choice. I won't mention it again unless it's a special situation.

21. Take care of the two as they attack you. Climb the stairs at the south end of the area. Run/jump to a ledge on the west wall.

22. Follow the ledge to the end then run/jump across to the ledge supporting the pulley and stone. Follow this ledge north until you see a higher ledge on the right.

23. Do an angled stand/jump and grab the higher ledge. Pull up and get shotgun shells and a small medkit.

24. Jump back to the previous ledge and face west. Run/jump to the opposite ledge underneath a stone face on the wall.

25. Follow the ledge around to a gate. Use the keys in the gate to enter the Upper Catacombs.

 

- Catacombs -

1. Follow the corridor until you come out overlooking a room. Jump down into the room and head right into another.

2. When you step into the next room, the section of flooring on the right lowers about a foot. When you step off it raises again. This section holds a statue we must eventually move into the previous room and we can't move it if the floors aren't level.

3. Go over to the face on the wall and use the "action" button. Lara pushes the block in a few inches and raises a brown stone slab below in the lower catacombs.

4. Go back through the previous room and back through the gate to the castle at the coastal ruins. Hang/drop from the ledge to the ground.

5. Climb down the ladder on the face of the pit next to the pulley and stone. Do not climb up on the block near the south wall. The stone will fall on you.

6. On the steps leading down to the fire (who keeps all these fires and torches burning in these abandoned areas anyway?) pick up an unlit torch. Light the torch from the fire. Be careful you don't light Ms. Croft also.

7. Go back to the pulley and stone. Stand underneath the blue pulley on the wall and jump straight up. This sets the rope on fire. Stay right where you are until the rope burns through and the stone falls.

8. Discard the torch and climb up on the block you were warned about earlier. Climb up into the crawlspace and go through.

9. Use the crowbar on the gate, go through the crawlspace behind the gate and walk to the end of the corridor.

10. At the end turn right and walk until you see the brown section of floor you raised earlier. Pull the column over on it. Now the floor above won't sink when Lara steps on it.

11. Now we go back to the room with the sinking floor. Go back through the crawlspaces to the coastal ruins. Climb the ladder in the pit to the level above. Go up the stairs at the south end of the area and run/jump to the ledge across. Run/jump to the ledge that used to have the pulley and stone. Run/jump from that ledge back to the west wall and enter the catacombs again.

12. Make your way back to the room with the sinking floor - only this time it doesn't sink when Lara steps on it.

13. Pull the golden statue once until it lines up with the channel in the floor leading to the next room.

14. Push the statue all the way to the end of the channel. You might want to save your game before you push the statue over that last floor tile.

15. When the statue covers the last tile, a ghost comes out of the statue. The stone tablet set in the wall off to the right opens to reveal a room. Quickly, for the ghost will be attacking you, run through the opening.

16. In the center of the next room, entirely laid out for your inconvenience, is a pit. As you approach run off the platform slightly to the right so you miss the pit. Continue right and up some winding stairs. At the top turn left and run toward three gray pots at the far end. Just before you reach the pots turn right and drop down into a depression. Stand next to the small golden winged statue until the ghost disappears into it.

17. Return back down the stairs to the previous room and climb down the pole to the bottom of the pit.

18. Follow the passage. Toward the end a wall slides up allowing you to continue. Push the lever at the end to raise the surrounding walls.

19. See the two ropes? Run/jump grab the first one. Slide down near the bottom then start swinging. When you have enough momentum, jump to the second rope.

20. On the second rope, twist around and face south. At the top of the wall is a crawlspace. Swing over, jump off and grab the edge. Crawl through, drop down and get Secret #45, shotgun, flares and large medkit.

21. Hang/drop from the ledge where the goodies were. You'll take a small health hit. Go forward a few steps, turn right and go up the stairs.

22. Shoot the gray pots, jump across and get the wideshot shotgun ammo.

23. Drop down the hole and slide into the water. Surface and climb the steps in front of you.

24. On the first step, turn south (right) and jump up and grab the ledge above. Pull up and face east. You should see a skeleton cavorting around on a platform. Now's your chance to get him long distance.

25. After taking care of the skeleton return to where you climbed up on the platform. Face south and run/jump/grab the platform ahead.

26. Run/jump to the platform with the lever. Push the lever and two more platforms slide out from the walls.

27. Stand/jump to the first then stand/jump/grab and pull up to the second.

28. Target the vase on the next ledge with the laser sight. Stand/jump to the ledge and collect the wideshot shotgun shells.

29. Above the east end of this ledge is a black overhead ladder. Use it to monkeyswing across the water to a ledge with a lever. As you reach the ledge a ghost attacks. Push the lever to slide out two more ledges then jump in the water.

30. Swim south and to the right. There's an underwater room in the opposite wall with a winged statue. Lead the ghost in there and when it disappears into the statue head back outside for some air.

31. Swim to the north end of the room and exit the water up the steps you originally used. Climb up to the platform and face south-east.

32. There could be another skeleton on the central platform in the middle of the room. If there is, take care of it then run/jump over there.

33. Head to the end of the platform and run/jump/grab the edge of the platform on the single pedestal.

34. From there do an angled run/jump/grab to the left and catch the platform against the wall. Pull up and face south.

35. Run/jump/grab the next platform then angle right and run/jump into the opening with a green lighted background.

36. Turn left and jump into the small alcove. Hang from the edge and shimmy right. Continue shimmying around the corner until you can drop to a ledge below.

37. Follow the corridor around and down until you're overlooking the next room. Hop down to the ledge below. Across the room are two skeletons. Take care of them with the revolver and laser sight.

38. Shoot the vase and get some wideshot shotgun ammo. Jump to the rope and swing over to the platform on the right. Notice the skeleton on the stones.

39. Face the center of the room and run/jump to the column in the center. Take the Trident from the pedestal. When you do the skeleton awakes and jumps to your ledge.

40. Deal with the skeleton (use shotgun to blow him off the platform) and jump west again to the ledge on the wall. Climb the platform above the ledge and get the large medkit.

41. Drop back to the ledge below and head north. At the end of the ledge jump over the hole and climb the ladder.

42. A skeleton waits at the top. Kill it and get the second trident.

43. Climb the block behind the pedestal then climb the pole to the next level. Backflip off the pole, break the vases and get some crossbow ammo.

44. Climb the pole the rest of the way up and backflip to the ledge.

45. Follow the corridor. At the end a panel opens to let you through. You're back where you met the first ghost after moving the statue. A skeleton will appear across the room. Shoot it.

46. Slide down the pole and walk west until you're overlooking the room with two ropes. Turn north on the ledge and run/jump/grab the ladder on the north wall. Climb down to the bottom.

47. Two skeletons at the bottom are just waiting to be turned into dust. Head toward the west end of the huge room. Just before your reach the pool of water, turn right and climb the short ladder on the wall up to a ledge.

48. Follow the stairs down and left. Enter the first doorway on the left. Engage a skeleton just inside. Continue straight through the area heading west. At the next wall turn right.

49. Halfway down the corridor is an alcove on the right. The entrance is blocked with three vases. A skeleton hides behind the vases. Shoot a grenade in and enter.

50. Climb up the wall at the back. Get some wideshot shotgun shells at the top. This room is divided by a series of pits.

51. Make your way across all the pits to the far end of the room (east). You'll meet up with a couple skeletons on the way. After all, this is the catacombs. Do a run/jump/grab to catch the last ledge, turn north (left) and climb the ladder.

52. About halfway up the ladder there's a ledge. Shimmy left and drop to it. Turn around and you'll see some shotgun ammo in an opening at the opposite end of the ledge. Get the shotgun ammo and continue around the corner to Trident #3.

53. Go back to the ladder. Jump across the hole and grab the ladder and climb down.

54. Face the trench and run/jump/grab the walkway across. Turn left and go to a pile of dirt against the wall. Face east and you should see a box of shotgun shells on a small ledge against the far wall. Run/jump/grab the ledge. Pull up and get the shells - two boxes, wideshot and regular.

55. Run/jump/grab back to the previous walkway. Head west and stand/jump to the narrow walkway then run/jump to the next.

56. On this ledge turn left (south) and walk to the wall. Turn left and face an alcove with a large medkit. Run/jump to get the medkit and run/jump back.

57. Turn right and walk to the center of the walkway and face left. On the next ledge you should see the doorway through which you entered this area.

58. Run/jump to the ledge and enter the doorway. Turn around, hang off the edge of the hole and climb the wall down.

59. Walk down the short corridor and turn left. Turn left again when you can and walk all the way to the doorway at the east end.

60. Once through the doorway, turn left and go all the way to the north wall, jumping a shallow pit near the end.

61. Enter the small room there. It's an elevator. When it stops climb up to the ledge in the north wall. Follow the corridor to a small room with a large vase. Shoot the vase and get Secret #46, a large medkit, wideshot shotgun ammo and crossbow ammo.

62. Exit left, go up a ramp to a ledge. Hang/drop to the floor below. The hole you dropped from closes behind you.

63. Head east and south back out on the walkway. Turn left (east) and make your way back across the walkways to the far end where the ladder is.

64. Climb the ladder up to the next level. Face west and stand/jump to the next ledge.

65. Move down the platform and run/jump west to the large platform in the middle of the room.

66. Walk to the end of this ledge, turn right (north) and run/jump across to the next ledge. If you pause just a moment before jumping, a skeleton will probably appear and you can pick him off before going across, else you'll have to deal with it at closer range later.

67. Go to the west end of this platform and stand/jump to the platform in front of the rope.

68. Stand/jump to the rope and swing across to the next ledge. A skeleton will come to you begging to see how the grenade gun works.

69. Stand on the east end of this ledge and turn right. You should see a pillar with a square opening in it. Inside the opening you should also see a pole. Do a slightly angled standing jump to grab the edge of the opening and pull up inside.

70. Climb the ladder to the top and backflip to a ledge. There is a skeleton on the floor with two vases. Blast the group with your grenade gun. Climb the ladder there to the top. At the top, jump across the pit into a corridor.

71. There are piles of bones as well as complete skeletons in this hallway. To get the next secret, blast them all with the grenade gun. Don't forget the pile in the alcove behind the pedestal. Once they're blasted a hole in the floor opens.

72. Find the newly opened hole around the corner in the north end of the room with the pedestal. Drop down the hole and find Secret #47, crossbow ammo. You also see another door opening somewhere.

73. Climb out of the hole and go back down the corridor to the ladder. Climb the ladder down, then go down the pole.

74. Jump back out onto the ledge in the room. Go left to the wall and turn left. Run/jump to the narrow platform (south) then run/jump to the next one. Follow the wall and on the right you'll find the door that opened when you go the last secret. Enter and get Secret #48, crossbow ammo, 2 kinds of shotgun shells and a large medkit.

75. Go back across the platforms, into the hole in the pillar, up the pole, up the ladder and back down the corridor to the pedestal with the fourth trident.

76. Pick up the fourth trident and climb the ladder in the alcove behind the pedestal.

77. Follow the corridor to the end where you'll find a skeleton and a gate. Use the grenade gun on the skeleton and the crowbar on the gate.

78. Go through and crowbar the next gate. Follow the path out into the coastal ruins. Climb the block at the end of the path, turn slightly left and jump to the grassy slope.

79. You should recognize where you are. The castle we need to go to is the one on the right. So walk left around the mound to where you can jump to the top of it.

80. Follow the path back into the castle and climb the stairs at the south end. Run/jump to the west wall, then the east wall and back to the west wall where the entrance to the Catacombs is.

81. Enter the catacombs and follow the corridor to the room where the ghost appeared when you pushed the statue. Drop down and go straight through the door at the far end.

82. When the passage ends, jump down to the ledge below and slide down the pole. Walk to the ledge overlooking the room with two ropes.

83. Face north and run/jump/grab the ladder on the wall. Climb down to the floor.

84. Head west across the length of the room and through the doorway left of the pool of water. Climb the stairs up to the Temple of Poseidon.

 

- Temple of Poseidon -

1. Climb the stairs. At the top jump right across the hole to the winged statue.

2. Turn around and jump/grab the ladder and climb down.

3. At the bottom go through the door in the north wall. It has a slight ramp leading up to it.

4. Climb the block and follow the corridor to a room. You will meet two skeletons here.

5. Hang/drop to the room below. Go left (east) to the corner of the room and into a crawlspace. Get Secret #49, a small medkit and crossbow ammo.

6. Climb back up to the ledge overlooking the room and walk north around the balcony to the next room. It features a huge stone face with a protruding tongue.

7. Jump down into the channel leading to the face and crawl through the crawlspace under the face.

8. Walk through the arches into the next room and shatter the crockery to get some Uzi magazines. Go right (east) and follow the corridor to a room with black holes in the floor. These are firetraps.

9. From the ledge at the doorway, shoot the vases in this room and carefully walk around the traps to get the shotgun and crossbow ammo. While you are picking it up two skeletons will attack.

10. Carefully leave the room and go back down the corridor to where you broke the first vase, turn right and go into the room with the statue of Poseidon. Jump across the water to the statue and use one of the tridents. Lara will place the trident on Poseidon's spear.

11. Go back to where you entered the area. The hole is now full of water. Swim back to the room with the huge face and climb out.

12. Go south back to the room with the balcony, now flooded, and through the opposite door and follow the corridor back to where the level started. Water should now be flowing down the channel in the north wall into the room's central pit.

13. Stand in the water in the channel and face the opposite (south) side of the room. Run/jump/grab the dry channel opposite.

14. Follow the corridor into another room with a huge face. Climb the pole and backflip to the ledge at the top. Destroy the vases in the next room to get crossbow and shotgun ammo. If you've the ammo to spare, also destroy the two skeletons on the floor, one by the vases and one ahead in the room with the statue.

15. Place the second trident on the statue in the next room.

16. Slide down the pole to the face below. Water should now be running in the channel. Follow the channel back to the main room.

17. Turn east and go into the next room. Follow the channel to the face, turn left and climb up the corner of the west wall.

18. At the top shimmy left and drop to the ledge. Go to the end of the room, dispose of a skeleton, and place the third trident on the statue. If you haven't already, break the vase in the south corner of the statue room and get some wideshot shotgun shells.

19. Climb back down the wall to the face. A ghost comes from the mouth of the face. Run down the right side of the channel and into the main room. Turn right and in the right-hand corner of the north wall is the stone ladder you came down at the beginning of the level. Climb the ladder and backflip from the top to the winged statue. When the ghost disappears into the statue, climb back down to the room below.

20. Go through the opening in the west wall and approach the last face. Turn left. There's a crawlspace in the wall above a firetrap. Approach the edge of the firetrap, but not close enough to ignite it, and face the crawlspace. Take two small steps back, then one hop. Now do a run/jump/grab to the crawlspace.

21. Crawl through, get the drop on the two skeletons on the floor and a small medkit from the broken pottery in the next. Place the final trident on the last statue.

22. Go back through the crawlspace to the face. The firetrap is now inactive.

23. Go back to the main room and jump into the central hole where the water is going. Swim through a hole in the west wall. Follow the passage to the end, surface and climb out.

24. You should be facing west and should see two stairways leading up. Go up either staircase to the top. One skeleton should attack during the trip.

25. On the ledge at the top, laser sight the two huge vases on the left and right below. Shoot them to reveal a winged statue in each.

26. Hang/drop to the room below and two ghosts attack immediately. Run to one of the winged statues and wait until the ghosts are absorbed.

27. Go west into the next room and stand in front of the sarcophagus. Use the "action" button and Lara will open the sarcophagus and take out the Left Gauntlet. Two doors open on either side of the room.

28. Go through either door and climb up to a crawlspace high in the west wall inside. Crawl through and walk to the Lost Library.

 

- Lost Library -

1. Go through the crawlspace and drop down. Go either direction and walk into the center the library.

2. Turn left (north) and enter the middle blue door. Follow the corridor to a pole. Below the pole are three levels, each with a rotating plate with knife edges. You must slide down the pole all the way to the bottom without getting sliced. Of course, the camera angle conveniently changes to completely obscure your view most of the time. This is probably the worst abuse of it during the game. This is definitely a good place to save the game. Good luck.

3. Follow the corridor at the bottom to another pole. Climb up past one rotating plate and backflip into the corridor.

4. Enter the room with the revolver/laser sight ready. An axe-man appears from the far end. You must shoot him directly in the heart, which is difficult because he's constantly moving.

5. Go to the Golden Star on the pillar and pry it loose with the crowbar.

6. Turn left and go to the south wall. At the wall walk left past the axle shaft of the cogwheel. Turn left again and face the cogs. Hang from the ledge facing the cogs (they should be coming up toward you) and climb the ladder down. Hang/drop from the next two ledges and follow the short corridor to Secret #50: small medkit, revolver ammo and Uzi magazines.

7. Retrace your steps back to the cogwheel. Keep the wall on your left (south) and go to the first pillar. Climb the ladder on it.

8. Follow the walkway to a room with a pole. Slide down the pole and enter a room with two axe-men. The first attacks when you enter the room. Take care of him. Just to the left of where you entered is a locked gate.

9. Turn left (south) and walk towards the next room. The second axe-man appears here.

10. In the next room is a square hole with a ladder on the south face. Hang and climb down the ladder.

11. Go through the crawlspace and stand up. When you go left into the room an axe-man on a horse will attack. One shot to the heart knocks him off the horse, a second causes his heart, the Horseman's Gem, to fall out. If you can get up on one of the low ledges that line the room, it seems to raise you high enough to where it's easier to shoot him off the horse. Then the rest is easy.

12. Take the gem. Go through an entrance in the south wall of the main room and go right to a water fountain. Go left to the south wall and turn left (east). In the corner above a sloping block are two elongated weights on bars. To the left of these is a round metal ball. Shoot the round metal ball and a panel opens up to the right of this mess. Climb up there and get Secret #51, a large medkit, regular shotgun shells and Uzi magazines.

13. Go back to the main room where you fought the horseman, turn right and go to where you entered the room before the battle. Go through the crawlspace and up the ladder.

14. Go into the next room and to the locked gate near the entrance on the east wall. Use the Horseman's Gem to get through and pull the rope.

15. Go back through the gate, turn right, then right again. Climb the pole, backflip to the ledge and follow the path out on the walkway overlooking the room with the two cogwheels. Go right and descend the ladder.

16. In the west wall are two doorways. Go through the one on the right and stop when you see a huge swinging chain. You must dodge three chains to get to the far end of the room. Just wait until the proper moment and run past each of them.

17. In the next room is a cogwheel with a wooden trapdoor in the floor. Use the "action" key and Lara opens the door.

18. Jump in the water, swim left then right. Go around a couple big pillars and into a room that slopes inward and has round grates spaced along the floor. Turn right (west) and swim through the opening. Surface and walk up a ramp into a room with two golden stars.

19. Use the crowbar to get both stars. Swim back into the room with the round grates in the floor and take the first left. Follow the passage back and surface at the trapdoor and climb out.

20. Go back past the chains into the cogwheel room. Exit through the east end and slide down the pole past the disk.

21. Follow the corridor to the next pole. This is the pole where you have to go up three levels past three disks, crude camera angle and all. It's tough. Lara doesn't climb up as fast as she can slide down.

22. At the top backflip to the ledge and go back to the main room of the library.

23. Go to the south wall and enter the far-left door and enter the planetarium.

24. Statues of each of the planets (the ones the ancients knew about anyway) are behind the closed doors. The statue of Earth is already in the room. The planet statues must be placed in the correct orbit on the floor.

25. Turn right and you'll see the Earth. It has a blue stripe around it. Since the ancients thought all revolved around the Earth, push the Earth into the circle in the center of the room.

26. Go to the east wall and use a golden star in the receptacle there. Pull the Moon, gray stripe, from the right hand door. Place it in the circle next to the Earth.

27. Get Venus, green stripe, from the left hand door on the east wall and place it in the next orbit out from the Moon.

28. Go to the north wall and use a golden star in the receptacle. Get Mars, red stripe, and place it in the next orbit out from Venus.

29. Go to the south wall and liberate Jupiter, yellow stripe, and place it in the outermost orbit.

30. When all the planets are lined up, a blue beam shoots from the wall and connects all the planets. Go through the door under where the beam originates.

31. Follow the corridor and long way past a blue door and into a room with a huge pentagram on the floor. A snake statue sits at the apex of each arc of the pentagram.

32. Each statue has a lever on it. When it's pulled that statue, plus two others, burn like torches. If a statue is lit from two different places, it goes out. You must light all torches. Stepping into the center of the pentagram on the east wall resets the puzzle.

33. It's all much simpler than that. Just start with the statue nearest the entrance. Stand behind the statue and pull the lever down. Head to the right, NE, and just pull all the levers down.

34. When you're done a platform rises in the center of the room. Climb the platform. At the top, face south and climb up. Go up the stairs past a fountain and down into the next room.

35. Immediately turn left and go through the other doorway in the south wall. In the next room turn left and go down some stairs. Follow the corridor to a set of doors.

36. Go through the doors and you'll be on the upper level of the main library. Walk around the balcony to the south side where there are three blue doors. Go through the far-left door.

37. Fire elementals attack when you enter this room. To get rid of them you must run all the way back to the fountain you passed earlier - the one found right after leaving the snake statue room.

38. When the elementals are extinguished go back to the room where they originated and get Pharos Pillar from the pedestal on the east wall.

39. Leave the room and turn left. Enter the last door on this, the south, wall. Walk to a hole. Drop down and begin to slide. Just before the end there's a ladder on the wall ahead. Jump up and grab it. Climb to the top and do a run/jump to the ledge below and right. Collect Secret #52, a large medkit and crossbow ammo.

40. Hang/drop from the ledge to the floor below. Make sure you miss the torch on the wall below. Walk up the ramp in the center of the room.

41. When you get as far as you can go, look left and you'll see a lever on the wall. Jump/grab the lever and pull it down. A platform rises in the center of the room.

42. Climb the platform and do a run/jump/grab to the south. Pull up on the walkway then climb into the opening above the left edge.

43. Follow the path to a ledge overlooking the lion's head. Do a running jump to the left edge of the lion's forehead. It's a very small spot to hit. Miss and you slide off. Climb to the top of the head and pull the rope.

44. Climb down to the forehead, turn around, slide backwards and catch the edge of the nose on the way down. Release, fall, then grab the edge of the mouth. Crawl up into the mouth - don't climb up, there's not enough room and Lara will fall to the ground below.

45. Crawl through and climb the pole. Backflip to the ledge and head down the corridor. The gate will open when you approach.

46. Pick up the unlit torch at the entrance to the room on the left. Step on one of the grates either left of right of the pedestals in the room. The pedestal will ignite. Light the torch from it.

47. Continue down the corridor through another automatic gate into a room where part of the floor is slatted wood.

48. Stand near the floor and throw the torch on it. In a few second the floor burns away and falls into the room below.

49. Jump down into the room and pick up the Music Scroll from the circle in the center of the floor.

50. Climb up into the opening in the east wall. Follow the corridor and push open the doors to enter the main library again.

51. Go to the south wall and through the far-left door. Go into the planetarium and through the door under where the beam originated.

52. Follow the corridor to the snake statue room and climb the platform in the center of the room and go up into the hole.

53. Follow the corridor past the fountain and into the next room. Exit through the other door in the south wall. In the next room turn left and go down some stairs and follow the corridor back to the balcony overlooking the main library.

54. Turn left and go through the next door into a room with a harp. Stand in front of the podium by the harp and use the Music Scroll. A door opens in the east wall.

55. Go through the door and follow the corridor to the balcony, turn left and pull the rope to open the huge blue doors on the main level.

56. Jump over the railing to the floor and enter the now opened doors. Follow the corridor to the Hall of Demetrius.

57. Follow the corridor into the next room. Go through the doorway in the south wall and up a spiraling ramp. Get the Pharos Knot from a pedestal. Hang/drop from the nearby ledge to the main floor.

58. Go through the door in the north wall and up the spiraling ramp. An animation plays. When it's over take care of Von Croy's three goons.

59. Go back through the door in the north wall and up the ramp. Push the lantern one tile north to open a secret door.

60. Go through the door and drop down the hole into the water. Surface, climb out and find Secret #53, a large medkit, crossbow ammo and a pair of broken glasses. The glasses are found on the east end of the central structure.

61. In the center of the structure, overhead on the west side, is a ladder. Jump up and climb.

62. Follow the path out. Jump to the ground and head for the beach.

63. Enter the water and swim between the tower on the left and the brown cliffs on the right. On the southeastern face of the cliffs you will find an underwater tunnel.

64. Swim through and follow the tunnel. You'll soon see some purple seaweed. Swim in the direction the seaweed points. A new level will load.

 

- Temple of Isis -

1. When you regain control of Lara you're swept into a huge underground cavern containing a submerged temple. A shark is also here and will soon take notice of you.

2. Swim toward the upper part of the temple. There's a huge square opening in the upper center with smaller openings on the left and right. Swim into the small opening on the right.

3. Climb out and follow the passage to a keyhole. Use the Pharos Pillar here.

4. Get back into the water and swim into the small opening on the other side of the temple. Use the Pharos Knot in the keyhole you find here. It opens a door at the bottom of the temple.

5. Swim out into the cavern and go down and through the newly opened door in the bottom center of the temple.

6. Surface and walk up to the top of the steps in the next room.

7. Shoot the skeleton then jump into the water through the hole under the mural.

8. Swim into the next room, go to the north wall and open the door. Swim into the next room, surface and climb out.

9. A golden eagle attacks when you enter the main part of the room. After the attack, go up the south stairs.

10. The door closes behind you when you enter the next room. Walk to the statue of Isis and turn left. Climb the square pillar in the corner of the room.

11. Use the crowbar to get the Broken Beetle off the wall. When you do you will be swarmed by real beetles. Backflip off the column and run for the center of the room. The beetles will follow. Turn right (east) and climb the block that's appeared there. Climb into the opening above, then climb once more. Push the panel at the end of the small corridor. The beetles won't come up the last ledge. They wait at the bottom.

12. Jump back down to the floor and climb another pillar in the corner to the right of the statue of Isis. Pry the Black Beetle off the wall. This releases more insects.

13. Jump back down to the main floor and climb the new block in the center of the west wall. Do just as before, climb to the top and push the panel you find there. A hole opens in the floor in front of the statue.

14. Jump to the floor, run to the hole and jump down. The beetles still follow. Hang/drop from the pillar you're on and run to the north end of the room. Turn right and climb up the block with the sloped top. As soon as Lara straightens up, jump backward to the ledge behind.

15. Get the Winding Key from the pedestal then push the panel in the wall next to it. This opens the door in the statue room that closed when you entered.

16. Jump down to the ground and run south to the pillar under the hole in the ceiling. Climb the ladder to the top. You are now safe from the beetles. Climb the second ladder up into the statue room. Exit through the now opened door and go down the stairs.

17. Take care of another skeleton at the bottom then get the large medkit and shotgun shells from the southwest corner of the room. Climb the stairs in the west wall.

18. Go through the next room by taking the short flight of stairs at the left.

19. Shoot a skeleton in the doorway of the next room. The room contains a black and silver pyramid and has three holes in the floor.

20. Go to the west hole. Drop down to a ramp and start sliding. The water below will catch fire in a few seconds. You don't have time to wade through it to the block at the end. So, just at the bottom of the ramp, do a forward jump then wade to the block and climb up before the water ignites. Use the crowbar to get the Black Beetle.

21. The ramp has now changed to stairs but the water is still burning. Turn right and climb up the ledge. The corner of the room looks solid but you can stand/jump between the column and the cave wall to a walkway behind. Make your way back to the ramp/stairs and run/jump to them. Go back up to the pyramid room.

22. Go to the south hole and repeat your performance. In this case make sure you get the beetle from the stone at the south end of the room. The other one is a Broken Beetle and is of no use. Your inventory should now contain 3 Black Beetles.

23. Go back to the pyramid room. We can ignore the north hole since all it contains is another Broken Beetle. Leave the pyramid room and go back to the room with the three staircases and central pool.

24. Go up the north stairs to Cleopatra's Palaces.

 

- Cleopatra's Palaces -

1. Enter a room with fountain and plants. Cross the room and go up the north stairs. Make a sharp left and walk up the ramp. At the east end of the room at the top is an engraved panel.

2. Open it with the crowbar and follow the corridor to an identical panel. Crowbar it open also.

3. Follow the corridor to a hole. Drop down into the hole and start sliding into a room with water/oil that will ignite in seconds. At the bottom of the slide jump left, wade up the left channel and pull up on the ledge before the liquid ignites. Use the crowbar to get the fourth Black Beetle from the wall.

4. Roll and put Lara's back to the wall where the beetle was and run/jump over the liquid to a ledge.

5. Once again the ramp has turned into stairs. Walk to the very left-hand edge of the ledge, turn and face the opening you came through. Stand/jump into the opening. It's very tricky and Lara has just enough room to make it. Trust me.

6. Climb the stairs, turn left and hang/drop to the floor below by a huge plant.

7. Go up the stairs in the south wall and back to the Temple of Isis.

8. Follow the corridor down the stairs to the pool. You'll be attacked by another golden eagle.

9. Go up the west stairs into the room with the black and silver pyramid.

10. There is a projection on each of the pyramid's faces. Use a Black Beetle on each. When the top of the pyramid rises on a beam, walk in and get the Mechanical Scarab.

11. In inventory combine the Winding Key with the Mechanical Scarab to make the Mechanical Scarab with Key.

12. Leave the pyramid room and go back down the stairs to the pool. Climb the north stairs back to Cleopatra's Palaces.

13. Go back up the stairs in the north wall. Follow the corridor to a wall with a picture of an eagle. On the floor under the picture is a drawing of a beetle with a black hole in it.

14. The triangular shaped holes east of the beetle are spike traps. Use the Mechanical Scarab with Key on the painted beetle.

15. The beetle clears the traps for you. Walk through and pick up the scarab. It will be needed again.

16. Go up the ramp left of the huge plant (north wall).

17. Once inside the room a set of blades start swinging over the door. Open the sarcophagus and get the Right Gauntlet. A skeleton pops up on the right. Take care of it.

18. Time your run through the blades and go back to the area with the huge plant. Go through the door in the east wall. Once inside turn left. Kill a skeleton and use the mechanical scarab. Cross the deactivated trap and pick up the scarab.

19. Go up the stairs and down the other side. A golden eagle may attack here. At the bottom of the stairs turn left and go to the center of the room.

20. Open the sarcophagus on the east wall and get a small medkit. Turn around and head through the opening with an eagle painted on it in the west wall. Just past the eagle painting take notice of the engraved tile in the wall to the right.

21. In the west wall of the next room is an alcove with a set of doors at the end. There's also a lever on the wall right of the doors. Jump/grab the lever.

22. Climb the block that was raised in the center of the room behind you. Face west and jump/grab the crack in the wall. Shimmy right quite a ways, around several corners, until you can pull up.

23. Follow the corridor into the next room and exit through a doorway in the north wall.

24. More swinging blades. Open the sarcophagus and get the Right Greave. Also get the skeleton that appears.

25. Be careful going through the blades. Go back to the ledge you pulled up on and hang/drop to the floor. Return to the lever you pulled earlier.

26. Head south and turn left. Follow the corridor to the engraved tile by the eagle painting mentioned earlier. The tile is now raised giving entrance to a room. Enter and get the Pharos Knot from the sarcophagus.

27. Exit the room, turn left and head east. Go past the stairs and turn left into the next corridor. You are heading north.

28. On the north wall of the next room are a spike-trapped corridor and a short flight of stairs leading up to a keyhole. On the west wall is another spike trapped corridor.

29. Go to the spike-trapped corridor in the north wall. Deactivate this trap with the scarab. Walkthrough, pick up the scarab and enter the room.

30. Collect Secret #54, crossbow ammo, a small medkit, and both types of shotgun shells, by opening the sarcophagus.

31. Once the traps have been deactivated they stay that way, so you don't need to use the scarab on the way back.

32. Return to the previous room and go up the stairs to the keyhole. Get the regular shotgun shells from the left at the top then use the Pharos Knot in the keyhole.

33. Enter the room and climb the block directly in front of you. When you pick up the small medkit, a golden statue of Lara will be created on the opposite block. Damage the statue and you damage Lara.

34. Jump to the north side of the room and climb the block in the right corner.

35. Jump up, grab the ceiling and monkeyswing to the south side of the room and drop down on a pillar.

36. Walk to the end of the alcove, turn around, jump up and grab the floor above.

37. When you walk out on the walkway above, shoot the golden eagles quickly as possible else they will attack the Lara statue and the real Lara will take the damage.

38. Walk out on the spur of the walkway that's over the Lara statue. Run/jump to the spur opposite.

39. Follow the walkway to the north wall and jump/climb up into the opening and follow the corridor.

40. At the end you will be attacked by a skeleton and another eagle. If you don't get the eagle right away, it will fly down and attack the Lara statue. You'll have to run back down the corridor and jump to the walkway and shoot it from there. If you don't see the eagle and your health points start to go down mysteriously, this is what's happening.

41. Run/jump to the platform in the middle of the room. On the east and west sides of the room are blocks suspended from the ceiling. On these blocks are levers. When you jump/grab the levers, they each open a door and release an eagle that will attack the Lara statue. Once the lever is pulled, Lara will fall to the walkway below. You can fight the eagles from there but you may have to drop down to the statue itself to get a clear shot.

42. Jump over to the newly opened corridor on the west side and get the Ornate Handle from the square hole at the end.

43. From the east side get the Hathor Effigy. In inventory combine the Handle with the Effigy to make the Portal Guardian.

44. Run/jump back to the central platform then jump to the platform with the engraved wall block on the south end of the room. Put the Portal Guardian on the stand next to the block and the block raises.

45. Immediately inside the door a skeleton attacks. Blow it up and follow the corridor to the next room where an animation plays.

46. When the two golden statues attack it's fierce combat. It takes several hits from the grenade gun to destroy them. They both may not attack at the same time. One seems to hold off until the other is destroyed. Anyway, attack the one that attacks you first, then take care of the second.

47. After the battle, go in the doors they came from and open the sarcophagi. One contains the Left Greave. The other holds the Breast Plate.

48. A hole has opened up on either side of the platform at the foot of the throne. Drop through either one and follow the corridor to end the level.
