Thoughts

Playing “World of Warcraft” seemed so really exciting at the time. It was one of the first gaming platforms that solved the whole massive multiplayer online gaming scenario and was wildly successful. I played it a lot, probably too much. There were a mixture of real people playing along with non-player characters (NPCs) that you could interact with. But, ultimately, I began to feel the game was empty. What was I really accomplishing. Time was slipping by and there were so many other things in my life that I could be doing besides playing a game.

This led me to think about the scene in the movie “War Games” where the computer figures out that the best answer to global nuclear war was not to play the game.

Although I still enjoyed computer gaming, my gameplay has steadily declined ever since. It is just a vacuum that leaves me feeling empty.
